AI Accountability Lab Workshop: The anatomy of AI accountability: Shifting power through auditing AI systems

The AI Accountability Lab is hosting a workshop:

The anatomy of AI accountability: Shifting power through auditing AI systems on Tuesday, September 23 at 15:00 – 17:30 CEST (09:00-11:30 EDT).

This virtual workshop will explore how AI audits and similar investigative approaches can be better equipped to counter urgent issues: the concentration of power in the hands of few, the proliferation of unvetted AI systems into societies, and the push to integrate AI systems into critical infrastructure at any cost.

They will bring together a diverse group of auditors, investigative journalists, and civil society groups contesting AI systems to discuss:

  • the approaches participants use

  • the barriers they face in their work in investigating various AI targets

  • strategies for meaningful accountability

The insights that arise in the workshop will both enable participants to learn from each other, as well as inform the development of a justice-centered auditing framework to assist those contesting AI systems.

Registration to the virtual workshop is open here. Please register to indicate interest by August 26th and save the date on your calendar. We will follow up to confirm participation by August 29th.

For any questions about this workshop, please reach out to: RAUHM@tcd.ie
